We are Fay and Dane Carty, the owners of The Stables Guest House.<\/p>\n
Fay has been a primary school teacher in Birmingham, for 18 years and I’ve worked as an IT consultant, also in the Midlands for over 30 years.<\/p>\n
During 2017, I was offered a voluntary redundancy package, I also inherited some money after my Mom passed away. This has enabled us to live our dream of living somewhere as beautiful as Galloway, and running a B&B.<\/p>\n
I have been travelling to Galloway as a visitor since I was 13, the sunny summer of 1976. When I was able to, I purchased a caravan in the area and spent even more time here,<\/p>\n
Fay and I are keen cyclists, both road and mountain (although the high end trails at Kirroughtree are beyond our abilities). I have completed the Birmingham Velo 100, a 100 mile sportive and would love to, but haven’t yet, completed the Loch Ness sportive.<\/p>\n
We love the area and can advise on walking routes, bike routes and activities, even those in wet weather. I also spent several years as the chairman of the Birmingham Astronomical Society and would be happy to help plan any observing sessions you’d like to undertake in the Galloway Forest Dark Sky Park.<\/p>\n
